Sobre Anne-Christine Taylor:

After studying sociology and ethnology at the Université de Paris-V and at Oxford University, A-C. Taylor produced her doctoral thesis under the supervision of C. Lévi-Strauss. She undertook long-term field research among the Achuar Indians of Ecuadorian Amazonia between 1978 and 1981.

Recruited by the CNRS in 1983, she headed the Amerindian Ethnological Research Team (UPR 324) from 1995 to 2005. From 1996 to 2000, she was also project leader for constitution of the Centre A.G. Haudricourt, a group of 7 Social Sciences laboratories on the CNRS campus at Villejuif.

Anne-Christine Taylor has been an elected member of the Comité National since September 2004. She is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal de la Société des Américanistes, of the Ecuadorian review Memoria -Revista de Historia y Antropologia Andina, and the René Ginouvès Institute review ‘Ateliers du Laboratoire d’Ethnologie et de Sociologie Comparative’. She chairs the Board of Directors of the Société des Américanistes , and was President of APRAS (Association pour la Recherche en Anthropologie Sociale) from 1999 to 2002.

Anne-Christine Taylor has taught in France at the EHESS, the EPHE (5°section) and at the Université de Nanterre Paris X. Abroad, she has been guest professor at the Catholic University of Ecuador and at FLACSO (Facultad Latino-Americana de Ciencias Sociales) in Quito, at the Casa de America in Madrid, the University of Chicago, and the University of Madison, Wisconsin.

A specialist in indigenous Amazonian cultures, her most recent research has been on perceptions and experience of history in Indian societies, and on indigenous conceptions of psychic processes and the experience of the self. Anne-Christine Taylor has co-authored three works and published over sixty articles and contributions to collective works.

Director of Research at the CNRS, Anne-Christine Taylor has been seconded to the Musée du quai Branly since February 2005, where she is Director of the Education and Research Department.
